Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, Princess of Denmark was the daughter of Christian IX von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, King of Denmark and Luise Wilhelmine Friederike Karoline Auguste Julie Prinzessin von Hessen-Kassel. She was born on 1 December 1844 at Yellow Palace, Copenhagen, Denmark.1 She married Edward VII Albert Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, King of the United Kingdom, son of Albert Prinz von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha and Victoria I Alexandrina Hanover, Queen of the United Kingdom, on 19 March 1863.1 She was also reported to have been married on 10 March 1863 at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England. She died on 20 November 1925 at age 80 at Sandringham, Norfolk, England.1 She was buried at Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2
She gained the title of HRH Princess Alexandra of Denmark.1 Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, Princess of Denmark also went by the nick-name of Alix. Through her marriage, Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, Princess of Denmark gained the title of HRH Princess Alexandra of Wales on 10 March 1863. She was sponsor for Lady Alexandra Louise Minna Finch at her baptism.3 She was sponsor for Lady Alexandra Phyllis Hamilton at her baptism in 1876.4 She was invested as a Lady Companion, Order of the Garter (L.G.) in 1901.5 Through her marriage, Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, Princess of Denmark gained the title of HM Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom on 9 August 1902.5 She has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.6
