Alexander Albert Mountbatten, 1st Marquess of Carisbrooke was the son of Henry Maurice Prinz von Battenberg and Beatrice Mary Victoria Feodore Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Princess of the United Kingdom. He was born on 23 November 1886 at Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He married Lady Irene Francis Adza Denison, daughter of William Francis Henry Denison, 2nd Earl of Londesborough and Lady Grace Adelaide Fane, on 19 July 1917 at St. James's Palace, Chapel Royal, St. James's, London, England.2 He died on 23 February 1960 at age 73 at Kensington Palace, Kensington, London, England.2 He was buried at Whippingham Church, Whippingham, Isle of Wight, England.3
He gained the title of Prince Alexander of Battenberg.2 He was baptised with the name of Alexander Albert Battenberg.2 Alexander Albert Mountbatten, 1st Marquess of Carisbrooke also went by the nick-name of Drino. He was created 1st Marquess of Carisbrooke in 1917.2 On 17 July 1917 his name was legally changed to Alexander Albert Mountbatten.2
