He was born on 31 October 1916 at Stockholm, Sweden.1 He married, firstly, Elin Kerstin Margareta Wijkmark, daughter of Dr. Oscar Henning Wilhelm (Petersson) Wijkmark and Elin Mathilda Larsson, on 19 February 1946 at New York City, New York, U.S.A..1 He married, secondly, Gunila Marta Louise Wachtmeister af Johannishus, Countess Wachtmeister af Johannishus, daughter of Nils Claes Ludvig Wachtmeister af Johannishus, Count Wachtmeister af Johannishus and Martha Ebba Carolina de Geer af Leufstra, Baroness de Geer af Leufstra, on 29 September 1988 at Copenhagen, Denmark.      He gained the title of Prince Carl of Sweden.
